Purpose of Position

The purpose of this position is to provide ongoing case management through support, advocacy, guidance, and basic and/or job skills instruction to assist young adults in the attainment of their basic education degree and career pathway-related goals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The following are duties that are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required or assigned.

• Conduct comprehensive assessments that enable exploration of personal factors affecting self-sufficiency;
• Use assessment data to develop individual transition plans that form the blueprint for participants’ current status as well as future short- and long-term goals;
• Identify, develop and arrange resources in partnership with participants that will support the implementation of their transition plan;
• Conduct follow up that builds on participant strengths and helps them to overcome barriers to implementation;
• Plan strategies, including using the ASAP model, that will support the participant’s change;
• Document participant progress and the strategies they are using to impact their own transition toward self-sufficiency;
• Assist with the development and achievement of program goals and objectives;
• Advocate with human service, health, court, and criminal justice systems to resolve issues facing young people;
• Coordinate retention activities and assist with recruitment of students;
• Market the program to potential employers and/or community agencies; develop and make presentations about the program;
• Meet regularly with project staff to develop and maintain a consistent approach to supporting and expanding the personal growth and leadership skills of young people;
• Work with the systems in place to complete data entry correctly and in a timely manner;
• Teach career development, job skills, and leadership development;
• Connect youth with viable job opportunities and/or college coursework;
• Assist in student orientation process;
• Participate in self-assessment and professional development.

Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum Training and Experience Required to Perform Essential Job Functions

SKILLS REQUIRED

• Bachelor’s Degree required. Master’s Degree preferred.
• Strong commitment to helping young people succeed in an innovative training program to reorient their lives, nurture their leadership skills, and enable them to make a difference in their communities.
• Demonstrated awareness of and sensitivity to cultural, ethnic, and individual diversity and values.
